Between Two Worlds merges the mermaid world of the ocean and the human world of the surface. Growing up near the ocean in Samoa, and now in Hawaii, I am still mesmerized by the beautiful world below the surface. I often imagine, along with my friends that we were secretly mermaids who had to go back to the ocean regularly to keep the peace under the waves.
This painting depicts what we felt whenever we entered the ocean world, where our mermaid tails called the sealife to us, and we could harmonize with the creatures of the deep.
