This tatau (kakau in Hawaiian) is usually found on the length of the female's inner arm, as well as on the wrist and fingers of one hand. Unfortunately, this particular kakau was found on mummified remains in Hawai‘i. Although the information and documentation of this kakau is beneficial for historians, remains of loved ones who have moved on should never be desecrated even if just for research.
