Honoring the quiet strength of the kava circle, where conflict softens, words are weighed, and peace is poured with purpose, this piece highlights the drink, kava, made from the ava root.
In Samoan culture, kava is more than a drink. It’s a protocol. A presence. A practice of listening, reflecting, and speaking from the heart.
“Kava, Pouring Peace” began as a chaotic canvas with rough shapes and uncertain lines, echoing the way honest conversations often start: unclear and unsettled.
But as the painting evolved, so did its message. Layer by layer, it became a reflection of how our ancestors created harmony, not through dominance, but through intentional gathering.
The cup isn’t the beauty.
What we pour into it, that’s what matters.
